Milton and Milton Township Fire Department interim chief Chris Lukas at last week’s joint fire commission meeting provided an introductory overview of a transitional project plan. In the past six months, the department’s transition team, which includes RW Management Group consultants, fire department members (including deputy chiefs) and Janesville Fire Department members, has met several times.
While everyone didn’t always agree, he said the recommendations presented April 19 benefit both the communities of Milton/Town of Milton and Janesville and their fire departments.
Details within the plan still need work, said Lukas, pointing out that the transition team first wanted to know if the joint fire commission wanted the transition team to go forward with the plan.
At the top of the recommendations is sharing administration with the Janesville Fire Department.
