Lake Geneva captain's focus is on fire department service

Following in her father’s footsteps, Capt. Zina Opper has been a firefighter/EMT in Lake Geneva since 1995, and she’s served fulltime with the Fox Lake, Illinois, Fire Department for 16 years. Opper was the featured firefighter by Fire Chief John Peters in the department’s recent monthly report to the Lake Geneva Police and Fire Commission. In a recent telephone interview Opper said her father was a firefighter with the Bloomfield Fire Department. With the Lake Geneva Fire Department, Opper is a firefighter, EMT and EMS coordinator. “I make sure the EMS stuff is up to par and that the training is up to date,” Opper said. According to Fire Chief John Peters, Opper oversees the training of all EMS. members of the department and is also responsible for purchasing of EMS equipment and supplies, personnel scheduling and billing.
