One person died Sunday night after a house fire on South Main Street, Janesville Fire Chief Randy Banker said at about 9 p.m. A report of a house fire at 603 S. Main St. came in to authorities about 8 p.m., according to a Janesville Police Department news release. Banker said first responders found a fully engulfed house fire with one person trapped. He said police attempted a rescue at a second-floor balcony. “Several people were able to evacuate the residence, however, one person was not able to escape,” the release stated.
