An early morning fire destroyed the Lake Helen Pub and Grill Tuesday, according to officials. When firefighters arrived at the tavern, 3204 Lake Helen Road, the building was engulfed in flames, Rosholt Fire Chief Neal Simonis said. The business had closed about 10 p.m. Monday and the call about the fire came in at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Simonis said. No one was inside the tavern when the fire broke out, Simonis said. Multiple agencies responded to the fire and the last firefighters left the scene at 7 a.m., Simonis said. The Portage County Fire Investigation Task Force was called in to help determine the cause of the fire, Simonis said.
