One person is dead following a structure fire in a Dunn County town, while a fire in Chippewa Falls displaced residents on New Year’s Day and a separate fire in Buffalo County destroyed a barn and much of its livestock. The Dunn County sheriff’s office identified 84-year-old Wallace Cutting of rural Colfax as the man who died in a Saturday afternoon house fire. The Dunn County sheriff’s office received a 911 call at 4:53 p.m. reporting the fire in the town of Grant. The Colfax Fire Department and sheriff’s office responded to the residence on Highway W. Mutual aid was requested from numerous local fire departments.
