A house fire on the east side closed North Humboldt Avenue for about an hour Tuesday night, authorities said. Crews responded about 9:30 p.m. to a house at Humboldt and East Land Place (near Water Street) for a fire, Milwaukee Fire Acting Deputy Chief Russell Rivard said. Paramedics took one resident to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Rivard said. They also treated one firefighter for minor burns. The fire was contained to a single floor of the house. Rivard did not know the extent of the damage late Tuesday. Trucks were still at the scene about 11 p.m., Rivard said. Another fire near West Madison and South 7th Streets displaced seven people, including three adults and four children. No one was injured, Rivard said. Crews worked to put out a fire in a rear cottage around 8 p.m. and had cleared the scene by 11 p.m. The causes of each fire were undetermined Tuesday night.
