Marawood Construction has been selected to fill the general contractor position in the rebuild of the Madeline Island Fire Hall with a bid of $1,593,256. This comes after the emergency facility was destroyed in a fire earlier in the year. Officials say contractors needed to bid on six different components before construction would begin. Those components are electrical, plumbing, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), site work, general contractor, and fire suppression. A first round of bidding in October took care of every component except for general contractor and fire suppression. Those positions were filled during a second round of bidding earlier this month. According to the Town Administrator, the next step for rebuilding the fire hall is to have all contractors sign official contracts. This is expected to happen at the end of January.
