The Prentice Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire with a person still inside Saturday morning at 7:48 a.m. After a firefighter that lived nearby arrived first, the person inside the house was able to get out. As the first firetruck arrived, heavy flames were coming out of the kitchen area of the house. Multiple fire departments from Catawba, Ogema, Kennan, Phillips and Emergency Management helped as well. However, due to the temperature hitting -15 degrees, it was difficult for the fire departments to put out the fire. The fire spread and destroyed most of the house. One firefighter was injured and treated at the scene.
