A two-alarm fire caused heavy damage to the Historic Hartland Inn on Saturday evening. Crews were called to the restaurant, located at 110 Cottonwood Ave, around 10:30 p.m. Upon arrival, fire crews saw smoke and flames showing from the northeast corner of the building. Incident Command activated the MABAS system to the second-alarm level. Crews worked throughout the night to ensure the fire was extinguished. They left the scene around 6 a.m. on Sunday. The owner Margrit Meier was just closing for the evening when the fire started. She was able to exit the building safely before fire crews arrived. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. One firefighter was transported to the Hospital for heat exhaustion and released Sunday morning.
