A man is dead after a crash involving a semitractor trailer and a car Thursday afternoon in the Dunn County town of Red Cedar. According to a news release from the Dunn County sheriff’s office: The department received report of a crash at the intersection of U.S. 12 and Highway B at about 3:07 p.m. Subsequent investigation showed a sport-utility vehicle that was traveling south on Highway B entered the intersection and collided with the semi, which was traveling west on U.S. 12. Due to the SUV’s significant damage, the driver was extricated from the vehicle by personnel from the Menomonie Fire Department. The driver was then transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Cedar in Menomonie. He was later pronounced dead. The driver of the semi was not injured. Names are being withheld pending notification of family members.
