The Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their firefighters. The department sharing on Facebook that Brian Serdynski passed away Saturday morning. He had been a member of the department for five years and participated in various local events. The Racine Journal Times first reported Serdynski suffered a heart attack during an emergency call back on October 19. He was treated and released a few days later, and was cleared to return to duty the following week. The department considers this a line-of-duty death. Serdynski was 38 years old, and leaves behind a wife and three children. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help the family, and the department has started a fundraiser through Community State Bank.
