First responders across the state are remembering a local firefighter who died over the weekend. Brian Serdynski leaves behind a wife and three kids. "He was one of the first ones to come down and be at the firehouse and one of the last ones to leave," said Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Johnson. Johnson says Brian was with the Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department for 18 years. Brian was on-duty Oct. 19 when he had a heart attack. He was cleared to return to work, but was found unresponsive Saturday at his home. "We're going to honor him by the way he honored his community, and we're going to keep moving forward and keep honoring him every day by going on calls and doing what he loved to do," said Johnson.
