Some people swear by frying that turkey for the tastiest Thanksgiving dinner. The Bellevue Fire Department demonstrated what not to do when using a turkey fryer. Captain Andy Aschenbrenner with the Bellevue Fire Department said you can still use the fryer as an option, you just have to be smart. Don't use the fryer inside any building. It has to be outside and a good distance away from any roof or overhang. Make sure your bird is thawed before you fry. Problems arise when people submerge the turkey in hot oil and it is still frozen. You also want to make sure your fryer is on a level surface so there is no risk of it tipping over.
