The Wisconsin State Assembly recognized city of Fond du Lac Police Detective Camille Vandermolen and Knowles Fire Chief Bob Belling as First Responder of the Year in their respective districts Thursday.
The award is given to first responders who have gone beyond the call of duty to keep local communities safe, according to a news release from state. Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt, who represents the 52nd Assembly District. The Assembly recognized a first responder from each of the the state’s 99 Assembly districts, according to a news release from state Rep. Mark Born, who represents the 39th Assembly District.
City of Fond du Lac Police Chief William Lamb and Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney nominated Vandermolen for the 52nd Assembly District award because of her role in leading an investigation that led to a child predator being convicted of sexually assaulting multiple children and distributing drugs to children, according the release from Thiesfeldt.
