New information about a boy who was struck and killed by a Sheboygan city garbage truck this week reveal previous tragedies in his family. Roman Martin, 9, woke up late for school Wednesday. He grabbed his bike to ride the two miles to St. Paul's Lutheran School and was halfway there when he was hit. The collision happened around 10:30 a.m. near 14th Street and Center Avenue. Police said Martin was riding his bike on the sidewalk. He was heading north, downhill on 14th Street, crossing Center Avenue, when the garbage truck made a right turn off of 14th Street, directly into Martin's path. After police later released Martin's name, friends of the family confirmed to WISN 12 News that Martin is the half brother of three siblings who died in a Sheboygan Falls fire three years ago. Martin did not live in the same home as his half siblings and was not there when the fire broke out. His four half siblings were home alone while their parents were at bible study.
