Two people died in a duplex fire Saturday morning near 14th Street and Capitol Drive.
Milwaukee police said a 52-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were trapped in the building and were pronounced dead on the scene. Fire crews responded to an electrical call about 6:15 a.m., but noticed heavy smoke when they moved up to the second floor.
A family member told WISN 12 News the woman who lived in the home just moved in a week ago.
Earl McDougle said his aunt, Patricia Colston, is one of the victims along with a man he doesn't know. "I see her every day, and it's crazy because yesterday (Friday) she was just at my house having fun," he said.
Fire officials said crews did not hear fire alarms, but they still have a lot to investigate
"She was a lovable, God-fearing woman.
