A man is facing criminal charges, accused of taking a fire chief's all-terrain vehicle during a festival in Big Bend. Surveillance images show the fire department's six-wheel ATV just outside the station in July during the Big Bend Rumble by the River. The chief was using it to deliver water and snacks to police and firefighters. When he stepped inside the fire house for a minute, a man climbed on and drove off. "Somebody came up and said, 'We just saw a six-wheeler going down 164 with fire gear on it,'" Big Bend Fire Chief John Ludwig said. Surveillance video showed the ATV bombing through a ditch at Papa Stache's tavern about a mile away a few minutes later. The man now identified as 25-year-old Eli Lois, of Burlington, can be seen getting off, looking over the vehicle and then walking away.
