As deaths from COVID-19 in Wisconsin mount, new cases continue to decline

Wisconsin has reported nearly 500 deaths from COVID-19 in just the last 11 days. On Nov. 21, the state's coronavirus death toll passed 3,000. On Wednesday, it passed 3,500. The state Department of Health Services on Wednesday reported 3,777 new cases and 82 deaths, bringing the death toll to 3,502. The 82 deaths reported Wednesday follow the 107 deaths reported Tuesday — an all-time high. Nationally, the first day of December proved to be the most fatal since mid-April. According to Johns Hopkins data, 2,597 deaths were reported Tuesday — only 10 fewer than the record toll set April 15.
