An employee was able to put out a small fire at a business in Stratford Monday afternoon. The Stratford Area Fire Department received a call for a fire at the Pro Vision Co-Op Tire Shop shortly after 2 p.m. The fire was reportedly in the walls and when crews arrived on scene they made sure the fire hadn't spread. "An employee of the tire shop had emptied three fire extinguishers on it and put it out," Fire Chief Tim Carey told WAOW-TV. "We didn't really have to put anything out, we just opened up the walls to make sure it hadn't extended into the walls and into the ceilings." The fire was electrical in nature. Carey says the call was a good reminder of how important it is to have working fire extinguishers.
