Firefighters responded to a sawmill fire in Lake Tomahawk shortly before 9 a.m. Monday morning.
According to Lake Tomahawk Fire Dept. assistant chief Mike Carlin, a break in the sawmill's wood-burning
chimney caused the fire.
Due to the structure of the building, the heat was trapped in the attic and firefighters were able to completely extinguish the fire in about 30 minutes.
The sawmill was filled with milled wood and other tools. According to Carlin, the fire did not destroy many materials but contractors will determine the total damage.
There were no injuries reported.
Fire departments form Lake Tomahawk, Hazlehurst, Newbold and Woodruff responded to the incident. Oneida Co. Medic 5 and Wisconsin Public Service arrived at the scene soon after.
