A fire inside an apartment on Green Bay’s east side displaced seven people Tuesday evening, authorities said. Firefighters from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to a two-story house in the 800 block of North Webster Avenue and saw smoke and flames coming from the back of the building, according to a news release. Crews took a resident on the second floor down a ladder from the window because heavy smoke was blocking the door, according to the department. They also rescued three cats from the home. No injuries were reported. The fire, contained to the first-floor kitchen, was extinguished in about 10 minutes. The first-floor unit sustained heavy smoke and heat damage and the second-floor unit sustained moderate smoke damage, according to the department.
