Kayaker drowns in Wisconsin River in Oneida County

A kayaker from out-of-state drowned in the Wisconsin River in Oneida County on Wednesday. A report from the Sheriff's Department says it happened around 1:20pm in the waters near County Highway E just east of County Highway D in Woodruff Township. First responders got a call from a person saying they were with a male kayaker floating int he water and barely breathing. CPR had begun before emergency services arrived. The 48-year-old Arkansas man was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn't been released. The death is under investigation.
