You would think driving back to the firehouse after a call would be the least exciting part of a firefighter's job.
Well, not on Wednesday evening in the town of Wilson.
A truck for the town of Wilson Fire Department was driving eastbound on Sheboygan County V after a call when a turkey flew through the windshield of the engine, according to Assistant Chief Steve Pautz.
A flock of turkeys was on the side of the road as the engine was driving past when one bold bird decided to take flight. The airborne turkey went through the passenger side of the windshield and ended up at the officer's feet.
"It was a shock," said Pautz, a 26-year veteran at the department.
Wild turkeys can fly since they like to spend nights in treetops, which explains how the bird was able to get through the windshield roughly 8 feet off the ground.
