A fire burned through the roof of a nursing home in Fox Crossing Thursday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of residents. Residents were safely evacuated to other facilities, including local hospitals. Fox Crossing's fire chief says they were able to act quickly.
"All the residents inside were evacuated. We had 100 percent accountability within 15 minutes, in which the crew of the facility did a fantastic job of helping get those residents that were non-ambulatory out of the facility and into a safe area," Chief Brian Harbison said.
By 5 p.m., firefighters knocked down the fire but were watering down a number of hot spots.
