Milwaukee fire crews were at the scene of a partial building collapse Friday night in the area of North 32nd Street and West Villard Avenue on the city's northwest side.
Fire department officials told WISN 12 News the building is vacant and there were no injuries. We Energies was at the scene to make sure utilities are off.
Deputy Chief Dan Lipski said the collapse likely happened because the building was old and falling apart.
"At this point in time, we have no firefighter or civilian injuries. However, due to the extent of damage and the collapse that is still on the inside of the building, the conditions have been deemed way too unstable and unsafe to put firefighters inside the building until we get someone in here to remove some of the walls and some of that collapsed half," Lipski said.
