Fire crews from three departments on Monday battled a house fire in hot and humid conditions in West Allis. Firefighters from West Allis arrived at the scene of the blaze at 1024 S. 74th St. three minutes after receiving notification of the fire at 10:52 a.m., said West Allis Assistant Fire Chief Jason Schaak. Units from the Milwaukee and Wauwatosa fire departments also responded. The occupants of the house, an adult and at least one child, got out of the home prior to the departments’ arrival, Schaak said. No injuries were reported. Schaak said firefighters were rotated in to fight the fire faster than usual because of the heat. He said about 45 firefighters total from the three departments helped bring the blaze under control.
