Firefighters rescued a kayaker stranded in the Fox River Friday afternoon.
First responders were called around noon Friday to the Fox River for a report that a kayaker had become separated from his boat and was hanging on to a buoy in the river near the Memorial Drive bridge, according to a news release from the Appleton Fire Department.
Firefighters took their boat out onto the water and quickly found the man. They were able to pull him to safety and bring him to shore, according to the fire department. The man was not injured.
According to the fire department, Appleton police communicated with firefighters to help them locate the man.
The man was not wearing a lifejacket, which is required by law, according to the fire department.
