The Oconto Fire Rescue Department’s first female full-time firefighter/EMT is now its first female ranking officer.
Tabitha Vande Voort was promoted to lieutenant, Fire Chief Josh Bostedt announced Tuesday.
She has twice served as a paid on-call member of the department, in 2006 and then again starting in January 2017, before being hired full-time in February 2019.
“Since being hired, Lt. Vande Voort has always taken on new responsibilities and tasks with a smile on her face and strived to complete them in a timely manner,” Bostedt said. “She brings an atmosphere to work that surrounds everyone, making you want to do your very best in whatever you may be doing.”
Vande Voort was promoted after the department held an assessment center evaluation on Nov. 10, which included a written test, an emergency incident scenario, an oral presentation and a written presentation.
