A Town of Holland family is devastated by a Saturday afternoon fire that destroyed their home. But now the family and their neighbors are looking for answers as to why it took so long for firefighters to arrive and how they quickly ran out of water. At 3:22 p.m Saturday, firefighters were paged to a home on County Road XX for a report of a house fire. “[The] fire department took a while to get here,” said Tim Coorough, a neighbor who was there at the scene. Neighbors at the scene said the department quickly ran out of water before others stepped up to help with what they had. Video shared with News 8 Now shows people using garden hoses on the flames. “We can’t get enough water here to fight a fire,” Coorough said. Holmen Area Fire Department Chief William “Buck” Manley, who was out of town and not at the scene, understands their concerns. “What took you so long, why didn’t you bring more resources, why don’t you have more water, why don’t you have more personnel… [these are] all fair questions,” said Manley.
