The 23-acre park, nestled directly west of Mitchell Park, runs along the Menomonee River and features part of the Hank Aaron Trail. The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee owns the park. Dave Misky, assistant executive director of the Redevelopment Authority, said there have been at least three fires at the park since December. On March 30, the Milwaukee Fire Department was called out to the park to put out a fire that resulted in about 8 acres burned, according to Misky. There was damage to benches, signs and the boardwalk in the park. A 48-year-old Milwaukee man has been arrested and charged with arson. Officials believe the man lit foliage along the Hank Aaron Trail on fire.
