Five people were displaced from their home Tuesday after a fire broke out inside a garage and spread to a house.
Green Bay firefighters responded around 4 p.m. to a fire in the 1000 block of Heyrman Street, according to a news release from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. The garage was on fire and heavy smoke was coming from the house when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters knocked down the fire from the outside, then went inside the home to finish putting it out, according to the fire department.
The garage was destroyed and the home was heavily damaged by fire and smoke. The fire caused around $175,000 in damage, according to the fire department.
