Sheboygan County reported the presence of another COVID-19 variant Wednesday, as well as the county's fourth death in the past two weeks. The person whose death was reported Wednesday was in their 70s, bringing the county's total deaths to 138. A third variant strain, P.1, has been found in Sheboygan County through random sampling, Public Health said in Wednesday's update. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the P.1 variant is more resistant to the antibodies created by vaccines or previous infections. Two other variants — B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 — were already detected in the county and spread more easily than the original strain of COVID-19.
