A Dane Co. machine shed and classic semi parked inside it are considered total losses after a Monday morning fire that sent heavy smoke towering over Lake Kegonsa.
McFarland Fire Dept. Chief told NBC15 News multiple departments spent an hour battling the flames, rotating crews in and out because of the heat, before getting the fire under control. The Salvation Army also came to the scene to offer assistance, like food and water, to the firefighters.
McFarland said they were called to the home, in the 2300 block of Dyreson Road, around 8:30 a.m. The road where the shed stood remained busy and with bystanders stopping to look, other vehicles behind them were forced to swerve off the road to avoid a collision. He expects some crews will remain there for several more hours looking for hot spots and ensuring that the fire is completely out.
