A few area families had the chance to go on a holiday shopping spree with their firefighters.
The Wausau Fire Department’s Charitable Foundation held their annual Shop with a Hero event Monday at Fleet Farm.
Families were chosen by the group to shop for presents and other goodies with these heroes.
The department says it’s a special program, one they love doing every year.
"All of us as firefighters wanted to do a little bit extra for the community instead of only seeing them on calls when they're having their bad day.” Jeremy Kopp, Deputy Chief, said. “Now we can try to chip in and help out in other areas. It just feels good, especially this time of year, to help out families."
