La Crosse firefighters battled a fire Monday night and into early Tuesday morning in downtown La Crosse.
The La Crosse Fire Department was dispatched for a fire on the back staircase at 304 Pearl Street, Casino Bar, with units responding to the scene in 3 minutes and 50 seconds.
When crews arrived heavy fire and smoke were coming from the first and second floors, extending to the roof in the rear of the building. Multiple departments came to assist the La Crosse Fire Department, including Shelby, Holmen, Onalaska, and La Crescent.
Crews were hindered by the cold weather and freezing conditions. As of 5:00 a.m. crews remained on location to monitor the building, which sustained significant smoke and fire damage.
No injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation by the La Crosse Fire Department Fire Investigators.
