Firefighters in Buffalo County had two house fires to deal with in the frigid cold over the weekend. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says crews were called to a home in the town of Nelson around 2:30 pm Sunday afternoon. The house was fully engulfed when crews got there. The people who live there were not home at the time. The home is considered a total loss. The origin of the fire is unknown. Buffalo County authorities are also looking into a suspicious fire that happened Friday afternoon. They were called to a fire at a home that was vacant in Modena around 2pm on Friday. The Mondovi Fire Department with the assistance of the Alma Fire Department battled the fire. The home is considered a total loss.
