Firefighters responded to two structure fires Monday in less than an hour that caused more than $10,000 in damage and killed a pet cat.
Fire crews responded to the first fire around 1:50 p.m. on Plank Road in Menasha, according to Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue. Officials said fire spread to an attic in a detached garage and estimated it caused about $10,000 in damage.
Fire crews responded to the second fire around 2:30 p.m. on Arthur Street in Menasha. Officials said it was a basement fire that left the residents displaced. Officials said a pet cat died in the fire, but firefighters were able to rescue a large pet snake. There’s no damage estimate at this time.
Officials said no injuries were reported, and the fires are under investigation. The town of Neenah Fire Department, Fox Crossing Fire Department, Appleton Fire Department, Menasha Police Department and Menasha Utilities also responded to the fires.
