Middleton house considered total loss after fire; no one hurt

Firefighters responded to a house fire in Middleton early Monday morning. Dane County Sheriff Deputies said the call came in at 3:39 a.m. in the 3800 block of Bay Laurel Lane. When crews first arrived, they found flames in the garage that were spreading to the rest of the home. Firefighters said the house is a loss, but all of the family and pets made it out safely. Two cars were also lost in the fire. Initial damage reports say the fire caused about $700,00 in damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Crews with the Middleton, Cross Plains, Verona, Waunakee, Mt. Horeb, Mazomanie and Fitchburg fire departments responded to the scene.
