Two barns in the town of Belgium were deemed a total loss after they caught fire late June 23, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a barn fire at 5800 Six Mile Road at 11:21 p.m., according to a news release. In an email, Lt. Justin Kaas said property owner George Bush, 60, reported the fire. Deputies saw two barns engulfed in flames when they arrived. Three people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, the news release said. It added that "most, if not all, farm animals were saved." The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, the release said. Kaas said the fire is no longer under investigation. Kaas said the sheriff's office is just waiting on the property damage estimate before closing the case.
