The Madison Fire Department helped rescue a tree trimmer that found themselves stuck dozens of feet in their air when their hydraulic lift stopped working Monday morning. The fire department says the man was working to take down a tree on Van Hise Avenue — just a few blocks from Camp Randall Stadium — after recent storm damage when the lift stopped working, stranding him 40 feet above the ground. Several fire crews responded to help, including Ladder 7, which sent two firefighters up an aerial platform to help the man get down. The man was able to climb onto Ladder 7’s platform safely before all three were lowered to the ground. The fire department says the tree trimmer was stuck in the air for about 45 minutes before they were able to get him down. He was not hurt.
