Firefighters rescued four people from a burning building Wednesday morning. Fire crews responded around 5 a.m. to an apartment fire at 501. S. Fisk Street with reports that four people were trapped inside on the third floor, according to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. Firefighters saw smoke and found the trapped people at a window. Firefighters quickly placed ladders and rescued all four people from the windows. The residents, two adults and two small children, were taken to a local hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening. Officials believe the residents were in their bedrooms with their doors shut at the time of the fire. Officials said the closed doors gave firefighters enough time to rescue them. Officials are stressing the importance of closing your bedroom door when you sleep and having working smoke detectors. The cause of the fire being investigated by the Green Bay Metro Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office.
