One injured, four displaced following Green Bay house fire

One person is recovering from severe injuries after police rescued them from a burning building Sunday. According to fire officials, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department was dispatched to the 1100 block of E. Walnut St. around 4 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of heavy black smoke rolling out of a two unit home. The first crew arrived to find smoke and fire coming from the back unit of the one and a half story building. During that time, Green Bay police removed one person from the apartment. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 10 minutes. Medics attended to the victim pulled from the burning building and transported them to a local hospital. That person sustained significant injuries. Four people are now displaced following the fire. There is fire, smoke and water damage to the rear unit. Fire officials estimate damages at $30,000.
