John Reed was named Grand Marshal of the 2021 Oconto Copperfest Parade.
The theme of the parade, set for June 12, is “Thank You Essential Workers.”
The kickoff event for Copperfest 2021 is the Grand Marshal Banquet, which starts at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 10 at the Oconto Elks Lodge. The special guest is Miss Wisconsin 2020, Alyssa Bohm.
Reservations can be made until June 7 by calling 920-835-2647. The cost will be $15 per person.
Reed served with Oconto Fire and Rescue Department for 38 years, including the last four as chief, until he retired one year ago.
Reed, who elected to the Oconto City Council in April, also is a member of the Bellin Hospital Patient Advisory Board.
After working with many great people in the city’s protective services, Reed said he wants to continue to make Oconto a great place to live and visit.
