The Eau Claire Fire Department says a text message received by people across the Chippewa Valley is not from them. The text message says there is a limited edition T-shirt representing the fire department, and encourages people to click the link to make the purchase. Deputy Fire Chief Allyn Bertrang said he first learned about this text around 10:30 Thursday morning. He said there are other fire departments experiencing similar spam messages being sent in their communities. Bertrang said the way it stands, the only thing they can do is let people know the text message is not coming from them, and encourage people not to the click the link.
