Tenants of a small apartment complex are safe after a fire rendered the building a total loss Tuesday night.
The Dewey Fire Department received a report of a fire on County Road DB, near Tiki Beach Bar & Grill at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dewey Fire Chief LeRoy Pukrop said.
Four people lived in the complex, Pukrop said, and they were all able to make it out of the building. No injuries were reported, he said.
Pukrop said the fire started in one of the rooms and spread to the attic. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but he said the department does not believe it to be suspicious.
Pukrop said the fire was difficult to extinguish and took crews from several different departments, including Hull, Kronenwetter, Mosinee, Park Ridge, Plover, Rosholt, Stevens Point, and Stockton. He said crews cleared the scene at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
