State health officials indicate the COVID-19 situation in Wisconsin is getting worse. Wednesday, the Department of Health Services (DHS) reported the disease activity level is “critically high” in 21 counties and “very high” in the other 51. These labels are based on the number of positive cases per capita over the last two weeks (the “burden”) and the percent change in the number of cases in the past week (the “trajectory”). Ten of the 21 counties are in northeast Wisconsin:
Critically high: Fond du Lac, Forest, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Langlade, Marinette, Oconto, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara
Very high: Brown, Calumet, Dodge, Florence, Manitowoc, Menominee, Outagamie, Sheboygan, Winnebago
There are no counties in the state where the virus activity is low, moderate or high -- only very high or critically high.
