VIDEO/PHOTOS: Summer will hopefully arrive soon, and that can mean a lot more young drivers on the road.
Wednesday, Amherst High School students got a first-hand look at what can happen if they're distracted behind the wheel.
Statewide data shows teenage drivers were behind the wheel for 13 distracted driving crashes every day during Wisconsin Summers in the past five years.
"It's easy to pick that phone up and look at it for a split second, then you're in a crash," said Deputy Marielle Yenter, School Resource Officer for Portage County.
Portage County first responders teamed up to put on a mock car crash, demonstrating the potential consequences of distracted driving.
