Off-duty firefighters and neighboring fire departments were all called in on Sunday morning to help extinguish a Fond du Lac house fire that was spreading to nearby homes. According to Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, just after 2 a.m., crews responded to a two-and-a-half-story single-family home located in the 20 block of W. Bank Street for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, crews say they were met with ‘heavy fire conditions’ emanating from the entire house and beginning to spread to two neighboring homes. Officials said the fire was difficult to extinguish due to the high winds and the state the fire was in when crews arrived resulting in the department needing to call for assistance. Fortunately, all of the residents had already safely evacuated. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze from all three homes leaving destruction in their wake.
