The city rolled out a new tool for dealing with hazardous materials incidents last week — a decontamination trailer. The 56-foot trailer was parked behind the Superior Fire Department headquarters for tours. It’s something the FBI or large metropolitan teams in Chicago, the Twin Cities or Los Angeles would have, said Superior Fire Chief Scott Gordon.
“We see them on NCIS and all those TV shows — this is exactly what they have,” he said.
The trailer includes a self-contained water system, generator, heating and cooling system. It has a series of rooms — a bank of four showers, a private shower and restroom area, a redress area and a medical evaluation space.
