The residents of a Fond du Lac home have been displaced following a basement fire Thursday afternoon. Crews were called to 303 E. 10th St. shortly before 4 p.m. Upon arrival, they found fire in the basement. It was quickly extinguished but left significant damage in the basement and heavy smoke damage throughout the home. The home’s residents were able to evacuate safely, but the fire left the home uninhabitable as of late Thursday afternoon. The Red Cross was contacted to help the residents with shelter, according to firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
